Endangered Species

That’s me today…………and in recent days.  Every now and then I go through a spell of being accident-prone, or illness-prone, whatever you want to call it.  Maybe incident-prone would be a good description.  Those who know me very well can go into long, hysterical accounts of my performances in the past, but time and space [...]

Water into Wine

We are studying the lives of the apostles on Wednesday night.  In reading scriptures that mentioned Nathanael or Bartholomew, the wedding in Cana of Galilee where Jesus turned water into wine was mentioned.  Someone in class raised the age-old question of whether or not it was fermented wine.  The class teacher said he had trouble [...]

Update & Prayer Requests

To begin with, please pray for Shawn, Brigitt’s brother-in-law, and Debbie (Special Ed teacher) when you have a chance.  Shawn is having surgery tomorrow (Wednesday), and Debbie has been diagnosed with leukemia.  We would appreciate very much prayers on their behalf.  In addition, I would ask you to remember, as you have opportunity, my friend and fellow [...]

Emergency Room!

This is novel, isn’t it?  I’m posting Tuesday’s blog on Tuesday instead of Monday night!  There’s a real good reason for that, or rather a bad reason for it!
At the time I would have been on my computer last night, we were sitting in the ER of the animal emergency clinic not far from [...]

Sunday Evening

Sunday evenings, sometimes, a couple of old songs from one of our older songbooks come to mind, and they bring feelings of nostalgia.  Sunday nights, two of the closing songs we sang often at the evening service at my home church in Corning, Arkansas, were “When Day’s Shadows Lengthen” and “One Sweetly Solemn Thought.”   Verses from both follow:

When [...]

Prayer Request

There are some readers who stop by my blog who will, most likely, not be reading the other blogs I interact with on a daily basis.  For those friends and family, I have lifted a prayer request out of another blog and ask that you give prayerful attention to reading this and praying for this [...]

Mission Accomplished………….

Yahoo—MOUNT-TON DEW!!  High fives all around.  Yay, ole’, way ta go………….I’m SO glad!  It’s over; it’s really over!  Six months (at least) of work culminated today at our church building.  150+ new membership directories completed and strategically placed on the back pew and a table at the back of the auditorium (sanctuary) to be picked up [...]

Hailey Elizabeth

May 7, 1999, changed my life forever.  That’s the day a wonderful miracle occurred in my family’s life in the form of a beautiful baby girl named, you guessed it, Hailey Elizabeth.  She is the epitomy of sweetness.  She is that wonderful combination in little girls…………………….90% angelic and 10% impish.  She is tall and skinny.  [...]

The Rubber Hits the Road!

Those of you in this daily community of bloggers will remember a question posed by Keith a few days ago over at http://kdavis777.wordpress.com in his post entitled “No Less than Bizarre.” For those of you who may not have read it, Keith’s thoughts and questions that day involved how to approach or be involved with people of the [...]

Basically Unconscious!

I find I have a lot of days that my mind is parked in neutral.  Today is one of those days.  Must be the early hour at which my household arose (5 a.m.) in order to get Doris to the hospital for her stress test!  (Rising that early was the norm a year and a half [...]
