Taking time in the midst of life to look for smiles every day…..

No Particular Theme

I don’t have a theme tonight or any particular thoughts.  I just wanted to check in and say hi and hope your day has been a good one, with some things to smile about.
I’ve received e-mails twice today with this quote in it.  I thought it was very good and so am passing it along.
“To [...]

Gern

Not the usual time of day that I blog, but this is something special I wanted to share………and ask you, when you have some prayer space, to pray for Gern.
Gern was a classmate of mine in high school.  He’s one of the people I hoped to see last fall at the reunion, but he didn’t [...]

Ivan and Monica

One of my smiles yesterday was that I was staying neck and neck with Ivan in our on-line Scrabble game.  This is because Ivan has not only beat me, but demolished me, in 3 out of 4 games.  So just staying even with him is cause for a smile or two!
However, knowing my penchant (is [...]

Gift Exchange

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, so you know what’s only a couple of blocks away.  Christmas!  With all its attendant family togetherness, decorations, feasts, joy and fun…………as well as all the headaches of budgets, coordinating family schedules, etc., etc.
We already have a slimmed-down menu ready for our Thanksgiving dinner, which we are having on [...]

Light

Tonight’s sermon was about different kinds of lights and how these can be equated with the Christian’s life.  The first illustration was of a candle which burns itself out in service.  It was one of Phil’s better sermons.
I thrive, for some reason, on the Sunday night service.  It’s most always heartwarming and inspirational and a [...]

Getting it Right

I had a backsliding moment last night.  Backsliding as in questioning, because of teaching, something precious I’ve come to believe about prayer and the Spirit.  All of you who share, or have shared, church history with me, I think, will understand.
In recent years, I have found a new freedom in Christ that had been lacking [...]

God’s Beauty

One of the most beautiful sights in my world is right outside my front door and two more are within easy driving distance  I wanted to share pictures of these this evening!
No matter what the season, the afternoon sun shining through the tree in the corner of our yard and our  neighbors’ yards always creates [...]

Going Forward

The election is over, and now we move on.  We pray for our new president and our country.  God bless America.
SMILE:
The sun did indeed come up this morning, and the Son sees!

Mostly Mundane Monday

Normal stuff.  Some vacuuming and mopping in our own house for a change!  Recuperating from the weekend.  Appointments late this afternoon with Dr. Feel-Goode, the chiropractor.  Dinner at the PS.
I spent a little time on the computer, as well, playing on-line Scrabble with friends on Facebook!  That’s a lot of fun, except I’ve been beaten [...]

Family Reunion

The annual family reunion is now history, having taken place yesterday (Saturday).  I am the primary planner for this event, and I know I said the same thing last year, but I wasn’t blogging, as such, this time last year…………so allow me the indulgence of saying again……………..this is the LAST annual family reunion I plan [...]
