A Few Days’ Absence
This is one very tired blogger checking in briefly to let you know I will be absent for a few days. My brother, Denzil, who has lived in a nursing home in Piggott, Arkansas, for the past 2-1/2 years, has been in and out of the hospital for the last month. He had gastric problems, which culminated toward the end of last week in more severe gastric problems, and was taken back to the hospital about Thursday night. We saw him on Saturday. I will have more to say at a later time about that visit. Yesterday morning, Monday, I made a phone call early to see how he was doing and was told he wasn’t well at all. Later in the morning, I received a call that I needed to come back to Piggott to the hospital. Sometime between the time of that call and when we got to the hospital, a massive heart attack manifested itself. We stayed during the night and, this morning (Tuesday) about 4:20, he left to join our parents, brothers, and sister in heaven.
We will be making the trip back to Corning tomorrow to make funeral arrangements which will take place most likely either Friday or Saturday.
I would appreciate your prayers for our safe travels back and forth, for compassionate and cost-effective funeral directors, and for fitting and honorable “funeral service” for my brother. In three years, I have lost now two brothers and one sister. I am beginning to feel shell-shocked……………………….
TODAY’S SMILES:
- My brother made peace with his Maker.
- An absolutely beautiful early morning with a rising sun and fog laying across rolling hills in NE Arkansas.
- Very, very kind hospital staff.
- Barney was so glad to see us when we got home. It was his first night alone. We were glad to see him, too.
May God bless and keep you ’til we meet again. Love to all.

Judy, I am so sorry about the death of your brother and equally encouraged by “smile #1″ that he had made peace with God. You will be in our prayers.
