1 Thessalonians 5:22 is an admonishment to “shun” or “refrain” from the very appearance of evil.  And, while I can no longer argue that  to take one drink of an alcoholic beverage is “wrong” in and of itself, whether socially or in the privacy of your own home, I truly believe it is still one [...]

Tonight was our 5th Sunday Singing, and was it ever enjoyable, uplifting, inspiring, and fun.  We sang and sang and sang our hearts out.  Some of the songs were at the leader’s discretion; others were audience requests.  It’s hard to come away from one of these without feeling all kinds of worshipful.  I did a [...]

We had a very nice Thanksgiving this year.  It was different in that, for the first time, we went to one of the kids’ houses as a family en masse instead of our house.  Michael, Brigitt, Hailey and Emily are great hosts, and the family came together in a very enjoyable way.
Before the meal, we [...]

Today was a work day for us.  Then we had our Wednesday night service on Tuesday night, and the bones are tired and creative juices are nonexistent.  So I’ll share my smiles for the day and see you tomorrow night.  May God bless.

What a weird-feeling but nice Sunday.  Regular class and worship services this  morning with a thought-provoking sermon on being thankful.  We had two recent visitors to “place membership,” which was encouraging, since they are girls in their 20s.  Then an enormous meal, prepared by the good ladies and cooks at Berclair, with a good crowd.  [...]

Another busy week it has been!  We’ve been getting adapted to a house guest.  So far, so good.  At least for the humans in the house.  Barney, however, does not like closed doors (are all cats like that?), and so he sits in the hallway part of the night and meows because Phil’s bedroom door [...]

From my Power for Today devotional:
John 14:1 – Do not let your heart be troubled.  Trust in God.  Trust also in me.
Psalm 145 – …..The Lord upholds all those who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down……………..The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in [...]

…………………just like wine.  Memories.
My nephew Phil arrived today.  Having him here brings some memories of other family that I miss very much.  In a lot of ways, it is pleasant to remember.  In other ways, it reminds me of the pang of loss.  Anyone who has read my blog for any length of time will [...]
